MOSCOW, December 1 The Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow fined Vladimir Kara-Murza*, who is serving a 25-year sentence in a colony, 50 thousand rubles for non-compliance with the law about foreign agents, the court reported.
“Kara-Murza* was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 19.34, he was sentenced to a fine of 50 thousand rubles,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

A protocol for failure to provide information about the activities of a foreign agent was drawn up by Roskomnadzor on October 6. Lawyer Anna Stavitskaya, in a conversation with an agency correspondent, noted that the law on foreign agents does not indicate how Kara-Murza* was supposed to provide information while in the colony.

In April, the Moscow City Court sentenced Kara-Murza* to 25 years in a maximum security colony on charges of treason, spreading fake news about the Russian Armed Forces, and collaborating with an undesirable organization. Three months later, the First General Court of Appeal confirmed the verdict.
During the court hearings, it was established that a politician in the House of Representatives of the American state of Arizona, “motivated by political hatred,” announced “deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces to bomb residential areas, maternity hospitals, hospitals and schools” in Ukraine.
Later, a second criminal case was opened against him — for work in a “foreign or international NGO, in respect of which a decision was made to recognize it as undesirable.”

The third and most serious charge was under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Treason”, the sanction of which provides for up to 20 years in prison. He is charged with three episodes: speeches at the NATO Assembly, at the Helsinki Committee in Oslo and in the USA.

All three cases were combined into one proceeding, the investigation was led by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation. As Kara-Murza's lawyer* Vadim Prokhorov said, this is the first time that the RF Investigative Committee is investigating a case of treason — all others are being handled by the FSB.
Vladimir Kara-Murza Jr.* is a participant in the Russian opposition movement, a regular guest of various “democratic forums” in Europe and the USA, the son of the famous journalist and oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza (1959-2019).
