The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the National Sports Prize for 2023 is taking place at the State Kremlin Palace in the year of the centenary of the formation of the state governing body in the field of physical culture and sports.
““We, as legislators, will do everything to ensure that projects in Russian sports are implemented. I am absolutely sure that, despite the machinations of the IOC, our athletes will continue to remain the best in the world,” Zhukov said.
In March, the IOC Executive Committee recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes be allowed to participate in international competitions in a neutral status if they are not associated with the military structures of the countries and did not speak out in support of the SVO in Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) did not receive an official invitation to the Games in Paris, and in the fall the IOC suspended the ROC due to the inclusion of the Olympic councils of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in its composition. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced on November 6 that it had registered the ROC's appeal against the IOC suspension.
