Zelensky blamed Ukrainians for his desire to remain in power

MOSCOW, December 1. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky shifted the blame onto his fellow citizens for their reluctance to hold elections, as follows from his interview with the Associated Press.
“I am ready to hold elections, but the majority of Ukrainians do not want this, considering them “dangerous and senseless,” he claims.

According to Zelensky, he himself cannot imagine that he will leave his post while he is in conflict.

«There are no words to describe how difficult this job is, but I can't imagine leaving this post. “It would be very unfair, wrong and definitely demotivating,” he said.
At the same time, it was Zelensky who said that elections now were “not the right time” and this issue needs to be put to rest.
Ukrainian legislation prohibits voting during martial law. But such a possibility exists if parliament supports the relevant amendments.
According to the Washington Post, some Western politicians, in turn, insist that Kiev hold both parliamentary and presidential elections in 2024, despite the martial law.
