VOLGOGRAD , December 1The Volgograd Region Prosecutor's Office began an investigation after a fire in an apartment in Volzhsky, where one person died, the department's press service told reporters.
Volzhsky City Hall reported that on Friday evening, in house 28 on Pionerskaya Street, according to preliminary data, a domestic gas explosion occurred, and then a fire started in the apartment. According to authorities, one person was initially killed. Later, information about the gas explosion was denied by the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. According to the department, household items were burning in an area of 15 square meters in the apartment; firefighters put out the fire in 21 minutes. The cause of the fire is being established.
“The body of the supposedly 66-year-old brother of the owner of the apartment was found at the scene,” the prosecutor’s office reported.
It is noted that the prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region organized an inspection after the incident.
