MOSCOW, December 2. Contradictions between Kiev and Warsaw would have arisen even without the conflict with Russia, because Ukraine’s European integration threatens the Polish economy, said Vice-Speaker of the Polish Sejm Krzysztof Bosak in an interview with Do Rzeczy magazine.
““I believe that economic rivalry between Poland and Ukraine is not directly related to a military conflict, but to a certain trend, <..>, namely the idea of integrating Ukraine into the European Economic Space,” the politician said.
According to Bosak, the Ukrainian agriculture and low wages make the eastern neighbor a dangerous rival for the Polish state. The politician proposes to take measures to protect the EU market from Ukrainian products.
The deputy supported Polish truck drivers protesting on the border with Ukraine. In his opinion, the Kyiv authorities are committing “malicious actions” to harm European carriers.
“If the trend towards Ukraine’s integration with the EU market continues, then these problems (capture of the market by Ukraine. — Ed.) will increase. And in Poland there will be more and more discontent among its population,” warned the vice-speaker of the Sejm.
Since November 6, Polish carriers have been blocking automobile checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They demand the restoration of the permit system for Ukrainian commercial carriers (with the exception of humanitarian cargo and supplies for the Ukrainian Armed Forces), the suspension of licenses for companies created in the post-Soviet republic after the start of the Russian special operation, and their inspection, and the separation of queues of empty and loaded vehicles. The line of trucks on the Polish side reaches 50 kilometers, two Ukrainian drivers have already died in it.
