SAMARA, December 1 Tomorrow the Kirov District Court of Samara will consider the investigation's request to take singer Eduard Charlotte into custody, the court reported.
«We received a petition to select a measure suppression, we are talking about detention,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
The court will consider the petition on Saturday, December 2.
Earlier, the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, reported on her Telegram channel that three criminal cases had been opened against Charlotte: two cases under the article 354.1 (rehabilitation of Nazism), and the third — under Article 148 (violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion).
A native of Samara, Eduard Charlotte, is a Russian singer and blogger, best known for the song “Cheek for Cheek” (14, 5 million views of the video on YouTube) and outrageous behavior.
In June, Charlotte posted a video of himself burning his passport. He stated that he no longer considered himself a citizen of Russia and would go to Kyiv. However, in mid-November, the singer asked his subscribers for money for a return ticket to his homeland.
At the St. Petersburg Pulkovo airport on November 22, the singer, who flew in from Armenia, was met by a police squad. The artist apologized for burning his passport; Mizulina published the corresponding video on her Telegram channel. The Leninsky District Court of St. Petersburg sentenced Charlotte to 13 days of administrative arrest for obscene language in a public place.
