“Sandwich” increased by 0.9 points in the second half of November

MOSCOW, December 8The “Coffee with Sandwich Index” (“Buterbrodex”), reflecting the picture of Russians’ consumption of popular breakfast products, increased by 0.9 points in the second half of November — up to 123.4 points.
The index was developed on the basis of data exclusively provided to the agency by specialists from the large analytical resource «Check Index». The “basket” for its calculation included seven goods — frequent guests on the morning tables of Russians: loaf (400 grams), ham (200 grams), butter (180 grams), cheese (200 grams), cucumbers (500 grams), instant coffee (95 grams), sugar (1 kilogram).

For products from this consumer “basket,” Check Index analysts regularly calculate aggregated impersonal sales indicators (average check). The base 100 points are taken as the value of the “Coffee Sandwich Index” in the period from October 1 to October 15, 2022. Its change corresponds to the arithmetic average of the dynamics of the average bill for each of the seven goods.

During the period from November 16 to November 30, the average bill increased for cucumbers (by 13.9%, to 123 rubles), coffee (by 2.1%, to 192 rubles), and butter butter (by 0.6%, up to 157 rubles) and cheese (by 0.5%, up to 198 rubles). It decreased for ham (by 7.7%, to 203 rubles) and sugar (by 3.1%, to 63 rubles). The average bill for a loaf remained at the same level (38 rubles).
Thus, the index increased by 0.9 points compared to the previous two-week period and amounted to 123.4 points.
