MOSCOW, December 15, Vasily Bogdanov. Silver medalist of the 2022 Olympics year in single skating, Alexandra Trusova said that hockey is more difficult than figure skating.
On Friday, the athlete took part in a friendly hockey match at the opening of the skating rink at the Russian Railways Arena in Moscow. The figure skater, together with her father Vyacheslav Trusov, played for the Lokomotiv club team, along with them footballers Ruslan Pimenov, Dmitry Loskov, Dmitry Sychev, and vice-president of PFC Lokomotiv Lev Mazaraki took to the ice. They were opposed by a team of hockey legends, which included Sergei Babinov, Evgeniy Davydov, Sergei Makarov, Vladimir Myshkin, Vasily Pervukhin, Viktor Shalimov, Sergei Shepelev. The meeting was held in the format of two periods of 15 minutes, Trusova went on the ice in the first period, after which she left the ice.
“»It wasn’t the first time I played, I tried it with my father before. For me, hockey is more difficult than figure skating. The opponents are all too professional, they immediately took the puck away. To be honest, I didn’t prepare at all, I have a performance today, I’ll go to it immediately after the match. I went out on the ice in figure skates, I have to learn to use hockey skates, I haven’t tried,” Trusova told reporters.
When asked why she came out in uniform with number eight, which is what Russian Washington hockey player Alexander Ovechkin wears, the figure skater replied:
“»What uniform they gave me, that’s what she came out in. And so, I keep an eye on Ovechkin.” .
In the summer, sources reported that Trusova interrupted regular training upon returning from Beijing, where she performed on Evgeni Plushenko's show. The last time the athlete participated in tournaments was in November 2022 at the Russian Grand Prix in Samara, where she became second.
