KHABAROVSK, December 17The Red Book Amur tiger, which haunted the residents of the village of Lermontovka due to its “conflict” nature, was caught in the Khabarovsk Territory, the head of the region, Mikhail Degtyarev, reported in his Telegram channel.
«A conflict tiger was captured in the Bikinsky district of the Khabarovsk Territory. Specialists from the regional hunting management department, together with the service for the protection of wildlife and specially protected natural areas of the Khabarovsk Territory, neutralized the male Red Book predator, which haunted the residents of the village of Lermontovka,» Degtyarev wrote.
According to him, the animal in a special cage will be taken to veterinarians for examination. After a medical report, the fate of the tiger will be decided by Rosprirodnadzor. Usually we are talking about rehabilitation or release into the taiga far from populated areas.
“As for other conflict situations with tigers, the hunting management department of the government of the Khabarovsk Territory received permission to quickly act in several districts at once: Vyazemsky, named after Lazo, Khabarovsk, Nanaisky and Bikinsky and work on each similar case,” concluded the head of the region.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that another tiger had been captured in another region of the Russian Far East — Primorsky Krai. A predator killed a dog in the village of Dmitrievka, and will now go to a rehabilitation center.
In Russia there are about 750 individuals of the Amur (Ussuri) tiger, listed in the Red Books of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Russian Federation. The population has grown by about 150 cats in recent years. In Russia, these predators live on the territory of four subjects: Primorsky and Khabarovsk territories, Amur and Jewish Autonomous Regions.
