MOSCOW, December 6 People's Artist of Russia Alexander Lazarev headed the Russian Army Theater, they said to the Ministry of Defense.

“People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Lazarev has been appointed chief director of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army,” says a statement from the Department of Information and Mass Communications.
From 1995 to 2020, the post of chief director was held by Boris Morozov. After that, as follows from the information on the theater’s website, the position was vacant.
Lazarev was born on April 27, 1967 in Moscow in the family of People's Artists of the RSFSR Alexander Lazarev Sr. (1938-2011) and Svetlana Nemolyaeva.
In 1985, he served in the military team at the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, and in 1990 he graduated from the acting department of the Moscow Art Theater School, course of Alexander Kalyagin.
Lazarev is a leading artist of the Moscow State Theater «Lenkom Mark Zakharov». Director of the plays «Funeral Prayer», «Running». He played over 20 leading roles in plays and appeared in more than 80 films. Winner of the State Prize of Russia, the Moscow Government Prize, the Stanislavsky Theater Prize and the Crystal Turandot, awarded the Order of Friendship.
The Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army began work on February 6, 1930, and on September 14, 1940, the new theater building opened with the performance » Commander Suvorov» by Bakhterev and Razumovsky.
