ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 18 The Shakhtinsky city court of the Rostov region sentenced four years in prison to former deputy of the regional legislative assembly Igor Kundrat and engineer Anton Akolzin, who were accused in the theft of gas worth 46.3 million rubles, a representative of the joint press service of the regional courts told reporters.
As the investigation reported, from September 2016 to March 2020, the defendants underestimated the actual consumption of natural gas by the Kundrat and PK Kundrat companies, stealing more than 6 thousand cubic meters of gas. Thus, LLC Gazprom Mezhregion Rostov-on-Don suffered damage in the amount of more than 46.3 million rubles.
A criminal case was initiated under the article “Theft”. In October last year, the Shakhty City Court imposed a court fine of 25 thousand rubles on Kundrat and Akolzin. The prosecutor's office appealed this decision. In January of this year, the Fourth Court of Cassation overturned the verdict and sent the case for a new trial.
«By a court verdict dated December 18, 2023, Kundrat and Akolzin were found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph «b» of part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft), and they were sentenced to 4 years in prison in a general regime correctional colony,» said a court representative.
Kundrat and Akolzin were taken into custody in the courtroom. The court verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
