According to the defense cooperation agreement, which was signed in Washington by Finnish Defense Minister Antti Häkkänen and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, the US military in Finland will have access to four air bases and one naval base.
In total, Finland will open 15 facilities for the US military, including border guard and defense barracks, training grounds and warehouses. For the agreement to enter into force, it will still have to be approved by the Finnish parliament.
Recall that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened Finland with “problems” due to its accession to NATO and said that Moscow would create the Leningrad Military District and concentrate certain military units there.
