WASHINGTON, December 20 The United States and its allies consider the “price ceiling” on Russian oil exports a success and have agreed on a number of changes to the mechanism for applying sanctions, the country’s Ministry of Finance reported .
The agency took credit for reducing Russia's oil revenues by 32 percent in January-November 2023 while maintaining the supply of global markets.
The statement clarifies that Washington and its allies prohibit companies in their jurisdictions from transporting Russian oil and provide related services if the cost of supplies does not fall within the “price ceiling” of $60 per barrel.
The allies also approved several changes to the mechanisms for implementing these restrictions. We are talking about the requirement for service providers from coalition countries to receive confirmation from their counterparties every time they load or ship Russian oil. Also, supply chain participants, upon request, will be required to provide information about additional costs, in particular for insurance and freight.
