A criminal case was opened against politician Leonid Gozman due to posts on social networks. TASS writes about this with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies.
According to the news agency, Gozman is accused of spreading “fakes” about the army motivated by political hatred (clause “e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the case, as a TASS interlocutor said, was the politician’s publications on Facebook and the Telegram channel.
According to the investigation, the posts contained “distorted statements about the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Russian armed forces.” According to TASS, according to the results of a psychological and linguistic examination carried out in the case, Gozman “deliberately distorted” information about the war in Ukraine.
There is no official confirmation of information about the criminal case under Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code against the politician. At the same time, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs database, Gozman is wanted in two different criminal cases. The first time he was added to the database no later than August 2022, the second time no later than October 2023.
In May 2022, Gozman was added to the register of “foreign agents.” In July of the same year, he was put on the wanted list in the case of failure to notify of second citizenship (Article 330.2 of the Criminal Code). The politician was later detained in Moscow and released a few hours later; the security forces also promised to remove him from the federal wanted list. A criminal case under Article 330.2 of the Criminal Code was also initiated against his wife.
In September 2022, Gozman was twice given administrative arrests for 15 days, after which the politician left Russia.
