PARIS, December 22 A resident of French Strasbourg of Chechen origin was sentenced to 15 months in prison for publishing videos justifying terrorism, Agence France-Presse reports, citing judicial sources.
“A Russian man of Chechen origin was sentenced on Friday to 15 months in prison for promoting terrorism after distributing hundreds of jihadist videos on the social network TikTok,” the agency points out.
It is noted that a 19-year-old young man was detained this week and appeared in court. The sentence was imposed due to the fact that for several months he published videos and audio recordings with chants of the terrorist group «Islamic State»*, including videos praising the terrorist attacks in Paris and Brussels.
The convict admitted the fact of publication, but denied that it was done with the aim of justifying radical religious views. It is clarified that his channel published only materials praising jihad; in November the number of subscribers reached a thousand people, but after the complaint their number doubled.
