MOSCOW, December 22Two men removed a STOP sign depicting drones from a pole in south London, less than an hour after British street art artist Banksy confirmed the work, the Daily Mail reports.
““A brand new Banksy work was apparently stolen from a south London street today, less than an hour after its original authorship was revealed,” the publication writes.
Video released by the media shows the man using a tool similar to a bolt cutter to remove the sign from the pole, assisted by another man, before running away with it.
Earlier on Friday, Banksy confirmed the authorship of the work by posting on his website and on the social network Instagram* photographs of a “STOP” sign, on top of which three UAVs are drawn diagonally.
Banksy is a mystery artist who has changed the public perception of street art. His ironic works, directed against politics, war, capitalism and moralizing, are the subject of hunting by journalists, photographers, vandals, art critics and collectors. Banksy's works have more than once gone under the hammer for six-figure sums.
