The State Duma explained how sanctions against Alrosa will affect EU countries

In the State Duma
YAKUTSK, December 22Sanctions against the diamond mining company Alrosa will primarily harm the countries of the European Union; the sales market for Russian diamonds will change, said State Duma deputy, member of the budget and taxes committee Galina Danchikova.
As of January 1, the EU will introduce restrictions on the import of non-industrial diamonds mined, processed or produced in Russia. On March 1, phased restrictions on the import of Russian diamonds processed in third countries will begin.
The head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev, on Friday, during the announcement of the annual message to deputies of the State Assembly (Il Tumen), noted that it is now extremely important for the region to strengthen the production base of the diamond mining industry. He emphasized that the Mir-Gluboky underground mine, the construction of which Alrosa is starting in Mirny, will become not only the largest Russian diamond mining center, but also the world's largest.

Danchikova believes that sanctions against Alrosa will primarily harm the West itself. “Our company is the main system-forming one, but I think the sanctions will hit the West itself first of all. I believe that there will be a change in the diamond sales market, issues related to exports will be resolved… Everyone knows that an unprecedented number of sanctions are being used against our country But there are tasks and directions set by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, along which we must work and move forward,” the deputy noted.
