Antonov: American sanctions eliminate all chances of Moscow resuming dialogue
By introducing new sanctions, Washington is depriving itself of the opportunity to restore dialogue with Moscow in those areas where this is still possible, Anatoly Antonov told Russia in Washington. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
He called such attempts by the American administration “sanctions fantasies” and noted that they are a strong blow to bilateral relations.
“In essence, they cross out the possibility of restoration mutually respectful dialogue between the great powers on that short list of topics where Russia and the United States could still act from close positions,” the diplomat believes.
Antonov also said that the American authorities are still counting on “inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia «, including the economy, and also hinder the implementation of the SVO. He also noted that American sanctions also affect organizations of third countries, which can be regarded as a desire to intimidate Russia’s partners. He accused Washington of failing to understand that such steps “strengthen the artificial delimitation of the world market and undermine the status of dollar jurisdiction in the eyes of the Global South and its own satellites.”
