CHELYABINSK, December 24, Boris Khodorovsky. Silver medalist of the Russian Championship In figure skating, Sofya Muravyova is not yet ready to perform two triple Axels in a free program, said the figure skating coach Evgeni Plushenko.
Muravyova performed one triple Axel in the short and free programs at the Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk. The skater’s entry included two axels of three and a half revolutions in the free skate. Muravyova lost to the winner of the Russian Championship Adelia Petrosyan by just over seven points.
““Sofia is simply not ready yet,” Plushenko said, answering the question why Muravyova did not perform two triple Axels in the free program. “She already stepped on this rake at the Russian Grand Prix stage in Moscow. She did not listen to the coaches — and did everything her own way. The risk did not pay off. Now Muravyova is already an experienced athlete who learns from her mistakes and listens to advice. Moreover, I also try to listen to athletes.»
““Sofia performed the technical content that we planned,” Plushenko noted. “For her, the most important thing was to jump the triple Axel in both the short and free program. She restored this most difficult jump and performed it perfectly on warm-ups. Of course, there is something to work on and where to strive. We will work on quadruple jumps: restoring the Salchow, learning the toe loop. These are plans for the end of this season. Plus, two triple Axels in the free program.»
