The Parliament of the Pskov Region introduced a ban on “inducing artificial abortion” and administrative fines of up to 50 thousand rubles. This was reported on the website of the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies.
“Forcing abortion at the legislative level is recognized as a threat to the family, paternity, motherhood and childhood. By inducing an artificial termination of pregnancy is meant the commission of actions through persuasion, proposals, bribery, deception,” the publication says.
As the parliament press service clarified, fines are provided for violating the new rules: from three thousand to five thousand rubles for individuals, from 10 to 20 thousand rubles for officials, from 30 to 50 thousand rubles for legal entities.
Fines for “inducing” abortions were previously introduced in Mordovia, Tverskaya, Kaliningrad, Kursk and Novgorod regions.
Against the background of proposals from deputies and officials to limit the reproductive rights of women, private clinics in the Chelyabinsk, Lipetsk and Kursk regions, Tatarstan and annexed Crimea began to voluntarily refuse to perform abortions. Pickets against the ban on abortion were held in Kazan on December 10.
Interruption of the right to the body. Authorities in Russia are consistently making access to abortion more difficult, but for now they are trying to do without an outright ban.
