In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces handed over 271 vehicles worth 903 thousand euros by mid-December. As part of the project, Latvian social activist Reinis Poznyak was involved in delivering cars to Ukraine. According to media reports, the project helps to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine and the Territorial Defense Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine with transport.
The bill “On supporting the civilian population of Ukraine”, according to which the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers was given the opportunity to confiscate personal vehicles from drunk people drivers and transfer it to Ukraine, was approved by the Seimas of Latvia on February 16. In Riga, they noted that the main goal of this law is to support Ukrainians.
