The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea will limit supplies to Russia of another 682 types of goods at the beginning of 2024. This is reported on the department's website.
New restrictions will affect goods that can be used for military purposes: heavy construction equipment, batteries, machine tools, aircraft parts. The total number of items on the export control list for supplies to Russia and Belarus will increase to 1,159 items.
When the new restrictions come into force, South Korean authorities will be able to issue separate permits for the supply of specific goods. This may happen, for example, if the contract was concluded before the new restrictions came into force.
The Insider previously reported that foreign companies, including from South Korea, supply Russia with goods for the production of weapons. According to the investigation, the Seoul-based Mabuchi Korea Corporation supplies components for one of the leading Russian manufacturers of optical-mechanical systems for aviation and military equipment, NPK Makrooptika. Another Seoul-based company is Seolin Industry Inc. — supplies Udmurt JSC “Elekond” with goods. This is one of the leading enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex in the development and production of electrolytic capacitors.
