“The new resolution extends until the end of 2025 the possibility of applying restrictions on the import of seeds of certain types of agricultural crops from unfriendly countries. We are talking about seeds of potatoes, wheat, rye, barley, corn, soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower and sugar beets,” the statement says. message.
At the end of June, the government approved a list of agricultural seeds, the import of which from unfriendly countries may be limited from October 1 to December 31, 2023. Now the possibility of applying such quantitative restrictions has been extended until December 31, 2025.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation in mid-December proposed the size of quotas for the import of seeds of these agricultural crops into the Russian Federation for the period from January 23 to December 31, 2024
In early October, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut reported that the final quota parameters will be determined based on the needs of the market and domestic seed production, as well as taking into account the supplier’s plan for localizing production in the Russian Federation. Foreign seed producers wishing to work in the Russian Federation must submit production localization plans to the ministry by March 1, 2024.
