Data traffic consumption will continue to grow: on average, one subscriber will spend 1.07 gigabytes of Internet on New Year’s Eve — 8% more than a year ago. They will not refuse calls and SMS: on average, a subscriber will make one call on New Year’s Eve, and every second subscriber will make two calls. The average call duration will be 83 seconds. Those who prefer SMS will send an average of seven messages per night, the report says.
The most congratulations will be heard during the chiming clock and immediately after: the maximum load on the network is traditionally expected in the period from 00:00 to 01:00 p.m. Moscow time, but peak periods for calls, SMS and Internet consumption may vary. The lowest load on the network is expected around 4–5 am — at this time, mobile Internet consumption, call duration and SMS sending frequency decrease.
The most active consumers of Internet traffic will be residents of the Republic of Tyva — one subscriber from the region uses an average of 1.7 gigabytes of traffic over the entire New Year's Eve. The top 3 will also include the Magadan region (1.4 gigabytes of Internet traffic per subscriber) and Buryatia (1.2 gigabytes). Cellular users in the Jewish Autonomous Region and the Altai Republic use an average of 1 gigabyte of traffic per night and will be in the top 5.

The first peaks in mobile data traffic consumption will occur on December 31 at 19:00 and 21:00. At this time, Russians will still be purchasing what they need for the holiday table, discussing plans after the chiming clock, and also preparing dishes with a movie with a New Year's mood or their favorite music playing in the background, experts explained.
In their opinion, the next consumption peaks will begin closer to midnight and last until 02:00 on January 1. At this moment, Russians usually sit down at the table and begin to congratulate their relatives, for whom, due to the time difference, the next year has already arrived or, conversely, will come later. In the period from 04:00 to 05:00 on January 1, minimal subscriber activity in mobile networks is predicted.
On the New Year, residents of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug will talk on the phone the longest — the average call will last 218 seconds. The top 5 for the duration of calls on New Year's Eve will include the Khabarovsk Territory (124 seconds), the Amur Region (120 seconds), the Stavropol Territory (114 seconds) and the Republic of Kalmykia (112 seconds).
Analysts noted that despite the popularity messengers, congratulations via SMS are still in demand. Residents of the Republic of Tyva will send the most SMS on New Year's Day — on average, one person will send 10 messages throughout the night. The top 5 by number of SMS will also include the Arkhangelsk region, the Komi Republic, the Murmansk region and the Republic of Buryatia; in these regions there will be an average of nine messages per person on New Year's Eve.
