MOSCOW, December 28. In Europe, a precedent has been created for artificially destroying the demand for gas — one of the most environmentally friendly energy sources, said the head of Gazprom, Alexey Miller.
“»There (in Europe — editor's note) for the first time in the history of world energy there is an artificial destruction of demand for gas. Deliberate, imagine, destruction of demand for one of the most environmentally friendly energy products,» he said.
As Miller noted, global demand for this type of fuel will continue to grow — by 43 percent over the next 25 years. According to him, Russia is ready to meet the growing demand for gas.
«We are developing cooperation with countries that are interested in reliable energy supplies. And we have been working in the eastern direction for a long time. First of all, with China,» — he summarized.
The West imposed sanctions against the Russian energy sector after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. The policy to abandon Russian fuel led to rising energy prices and a surge in inflation in Europe and the United States. After the rise in price of fuel, primarily gas, the industry of European countries largely lost its competitive advantages, which affected other areas of the economy.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West has begun to exert several years ago and continues to strengthen. The Kremlin noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of anti-Russian sanctions. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that measures against Russia are ineffective.
