Uralochka is in 11th place in the Russian Championship standings with four wins in 12 matches. This season the team's head coach was Nikolai Karpol.
Previously, Mikhail Karpol worked with the Uralochka youth team, then as the senior coach of Uralochka, and in the 2021/22 season he served as the head coach of the first team. Together with the youth team of Uralochka, he became the champion of Russia (2014). With Uralochka, the specialist won bronze medals at the Russian Championship (2015, 2018-2020), silver medals at the European Challenge Cup (2015) and silver medals at the Russian Championship (2016, 2022).
In July, Nikolai Karpol set a Russian record for the duration of work in one volleyball club. The achievement was recorded on May 1 — 49 years 8 months.
Nikolay Karpol is 85 years old; he has headed Uralochka since 1969. Together with the club, he became an 11-time champion of the USSR and a 14-time champion of Russia, an eight-time winner of the European Champions Cup. With the USSR national team he won the Olympic Games twice (1980, 1988), became the world champion (1990) and European champion (1979, 1989, 1991). With the teams of the CIS (1992) and Russia (2000, 2004) he won silver medals at the Games. He also led the Russian team to four victories in the European Championship (1993, 1997, 1999, 2001).
