MOSCOW, December 28 Ukraine's total public debt in November increased by $4.5 billion compared to the previous month and reached $140.8 billion, said the head of the tax committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Daniil Getmantsev.
«»As of November 30, public and state-guaranteed debt reached 5,122.5 billion hryvnia or 140.8 billion dollars. In November, the growth of public debt accelerated, over the month public debt increased by 3.3%: plus 164.3 billion hryvnia or 4, 5 billion dollars,” Getmantsev wrote in his Telegram channel.
According to the deputy, by the end of 2023 the ratio of public debt to GDP will be about 85% versus 78.4% in 2022 and 48.9% in 2021 year. As Getmantsev notes, the increase in public debt was influenced, among other things, by the attraction of the next tranche of macro-financial assistance from the EU and a loan from the World Bank.
The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reported at the end of November that Ukraine's total public debt in October increased by $2.72 billion compared to the previous month and reached a record $136.35 billion.
In April 2023, the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergei Marchenko said that the monthly deficit of the Ukrainian budget is about $5 billion, two-thirds of the budget receives thanks to foreign loans and grants, while three-quarters of spending falls on military needs. At the end of August, the Ministry of Finance reported that Ukraine’s national debt exceeded $132 billion; in July it increased by $4 billion.
According to the IMF forecast, Ukraine's public debt will grow to 88.1% of GDP in 2023, and in 2025 it will exceed 100% of GDP. The country's Ministry of Finance previously noted that Ukraine's draft budget for next year provides for an increase in public debt to 8.18 trillion hryvnia ($221.5 billion), or up to 104.6% of GDP.
