The Vladimir Garrison Military Court sentenced Valery Shumilov, a participant in the war in Ukraine, to nine years in prison for murder of a friend, who during the feast spoke negatively about the “special military operation.” The text of the verdict was found on the court’s website by Dovod.
The decision was made on December 11. The text of the verdict states that on the evening of July 15, Shumilov, “while drinking alcohol together,” stabbed another man three times from behind. The next day he was detained and confessed.
The feast took place the day after the same Vladimir Garrison Military Court sentenced Shumilov to three years in a penal colony in the case of unauthorized leaving his place of service (Part 5 of Article 337 of the Criminal Code).
In both cases, the court took into account as mitigating circumstances the repentance of the military man, the fact of his participation in the war in Ukraine, the injury received there, and also the fact that he is raising a small child.
