BELGOROD, December 29 A local police officer from the village of Shishino, Belgorod region, in a dangerous situation, snatched a grenade from a drunk man, which he was about to detonate, according to the portal «Ministry of Internal Affairs» Media».
«The Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Belgorod region received a message that in the village of Shishino, near a store, a man was intoxicated. The local police commissioner, senior police lieutenant Vitaly Bakhmatov, arrived at the specified address. Seeing the officer, the citizen suddenly took out of his pocket a similar grenade object and tried to pull the pin. The policeman reacted instantly. He disarmed the attacker, detained him and reported what had happened to the duty station,» said official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk, whose words are quoted in the message.
She added that an investigative team arrived at the scene. Experts from the Russian National Guard identified the seized item as an F-1 hand grenade. An examination is currently being carried out, Volk clarified. The man, who had previously been prosecuted, was taken to the police department for further proceedings.
«The investigator of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Belgorod region has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal trafficking in explosives).
