On December 23, an elderly woman at the Topkanovo railway station in Kashira, Moscow Region, was hit on the head and put in a car while she was traveling on a train to her dacha. A few hours later, she called her daughter and reported the attack, then the phone went off.
The investigator opened a criminal case, and as part of its investigation, 72-year-old repeat offender Nikolai Novikov, who had already been convicted of murder, was detained.
Earlier there was an assumption that the kidnapping of an elderly woman could have been organized by interested persons from the bank where the lady worked. Acquaintances and friends knew about the woman's acquisition of living space — a one-room apartment for her daughter.
