MOSCOW, December 31. In Ukraine, after the failures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they recall the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about readiness for negotiations, TVC channel reports.
«In Ukraine, talk is beginning to circulate that Putin was ready for negotiations on restoring peace almost immediately «after the entry of Russian troops. Ukrainians now realize that in two years they not only did not reconquer Crimea and Donbass, but also lost much more — both territories and people. This makes them bitterly regret the decision not to comply with the Minsk agreements,» it says in the message.
Crisis management expert Hervé Caresse notes that Ukraine is heading towards an internal explosion due to political differences amid the difficult situation at the front. And now, according to the expert, the Kiev regime is confused, not knowing how to explain to the population the need for further retreat due to huge losses and unfulfilled promises of a counter-offensive.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a counter-offensive on June 4 in the Yuzhnodonetsk, Artemovsk and Zaporozhye directions, throwing into battle brigades trained by NATO and armed with foreign equipment. But they were unable to overcome even the tactical defense of Russian troops and suffered serious losses.
Against this background, Western media are increasingly writing that the United States and the EU have begun to get tired of the Ukrainian crisis, and support for Vladimir Zelensky is weakening. According to NBC, American and European officials are already discussing with Kyiv authorities the possible consequences of peace talks with Russia, including what the former Soviet republic might have to give up to reach an agreement.
