
MOSCOW, December 31 Russia by and large no matter who wins the US presidential election, it would be naive to believe that with Republicans in power, relations between Moscow and Washington could be improved, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview.

"The American political establishment, regardless of party affiliation, sees Russia as an enemy and an existential threat. Considering the existing inter-party consensus on this issue, it would be naive to hope for an improvement in relations if the candidate from the Republican Party wins,” said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“By and large, we don’t care who wins the race for the presidency chair in the USA,» he added.
The US presidential elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024. Polls show former President Donald Trump as the clear favorite in the Republican primary. He is expected to be opposed by the current US President Biden. According to polls, Trump is well positioned to win in 2024.
