MOSCOW, December 29. The commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny fired his freelance adviser Alla Martynyuk, who stated that death would in any case overtake the Ukrainian army.
“
"I inform you that since December 28, 2023 I have no assistants -consultants on a voluntary basis,” he wrote on Telegram.
Zaluzhny clarified that freelance advisers do not have the authority to publicly comment on any issues on his behalf.
Martynyuk gave an interview to YouTube- channel ISLND TV, in which she called on the parents of Ukrainian military servicemen not to worry about the fact that their sons are going to the front, where they could die, since death “will still overtake everyone.” According to the official, Ukrainians should simply believe that their son is “really a hero” and “the flower of the nation,” and not think about his possible death in a hot spot.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost 383 thousand military personnel since the beginning of the special military operation. The summer counteroffensive cost Kyiv the lives of 159 thousand soldiers, he specified.
Vladimir Zelensky at a press conference on December 19 said that he was approached by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a request to mobilize an additional 450-500 thousand people. On December 25, the Ukrainian government introduced a bill on mobilization to parliament. It, in particular, proposes to abolish military service, deferment of mobilization for disabled people of the third group, to oblige those liable for military service to register in the conscript’s electronic account, undergo a medical examination, and appear when called to the military registration and enlistment office at the time and place specified in the agenda. The document also obliges all persons liable for military service to arrive at the military registration and enlistment office within 60 days from the date of announcement of mobilization or within 20 days from the date of its continuation, regardless of receipt of the summons. The lower age limit for mobilization, according to the bill, is reduced from 27 to 25 years.
