A modern simple recipe for jellied fish:
- pike perch fillet — two pieces;
- carrots — one medium size piece;

- gelatin — two ten gram bags;
- bay leaf, pepper, salt — to taste.
Cook the peeled carrots and onions with spices for ten minutes. Add previously defrosted fish, bring to a boil and cook for the same amount. Then remove the carrots and pike perch from the pan and cut into pieces. For vegetables, you can use special shapes in the form of stars and snowflakes. Strain the broth and dilute it with gelatin. Place pieces of fish, carrots and lemon in one layer and fill it with broth. Let it harden, then add a second layer. There will be three layers in total in the dish.
Nadya’s table is rich by Soviet standards. When Hippolyte returns to the apartment after an argument, she offers him a choice of salad or roast beef. And at the beginning of the film, a whole baked chicken appears in the frame for a second. You can also notice sprats, green peas, cervelat, eggs and tangerines.
Left alone in Moscow, Galya also followed Soviet New Year traditions. Before leaving, Lukashin reminds her: “You already made a salad from crabs, and I love crabs so much!” We are talking about canned food. They were advertised: “It’s time for everyone to try how tasty and tender crabs are!”
