The Central Election Commission has completed accepting documents of candidates for the position of president

MOSCOW, January 1 Central Election Commission ( The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation will complete the acceptance of documents of candidates from political parties for the post of President of the Russian Federation on January 1.
According to the calendar plan approved by the Central Election Commission, the nomination stage for party candidates lasts until January 1. To do this, it is necessary to submit to the CEC the decision of the party congress to nominate a candidate, a notarized copy of the document on state registration of the party, as well as a list of authorized representatives of the political party. Also, the candidate must personally submit a statement of consent to run for office, information about the amount and sources of income, and so on.

According to the Federal Law «On Presidential Elections», the Central Election Commission, within five days from the date of receipt of documents from the candidate, decides whether to register authorized representatives of the party or not.

Nominees from non-parliamentary political parties must submit no less than 100 thousand and no more than 105 thousand voter signatures by January 31, with no more than 2,500 signatures per subject of the Russian Federation. While candidates from parliamentary parties do not need to collect voter signatures, they will be able to submit documents for registration until the end of January. The CEC must decide to register all candidates no later than February 10.
According to the head of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, the commission received more than 30 notifications of candidate nominations, but only 14 applicants submitted documents to the department, of which eight were nominated from political parties, six as self-nominated candidates.
Among the party nominees are LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky, State Duma deputy speaker from the New People Vladislav Davankov, and State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Kharitonov. Non-parliamentary parties also presented their candidates: Boris Nadezhdin from the “Civil Initiative”, founder of the “Russian Party of Freedom and Justice” party Andrei Bogdanov, chairman of the “Russian People’s Union” party Sergei Baburin, member of the Democratic Party of Russia Irina Sviridova.

The Social Protection Party, which nominated Vladimir Mikhailov as a candidate, was denied registration of representatives due to non-compliance with the requirements of the law.

In addition, the Communists of Russia, who at their congress on December 28 nominated their leader Sergei Malinkovich as a presidential candidate, must submit documents to the Central Election Commission.
Reception of documents from self-nominated candidates ended on December 27. As of today, the Central Election Commission has registered a group of voters, as well as their representatives from three candidates: Vladimir Putin, Anatoly Batashev and the Russian Rada.
According to the law, a self-nominee in presidential elections must collect at least 300 thousand voter signatures in his support, so that each subject of the Russian Federation has at least 7.5 thousand signatures living on its territory.
The Russian presidential elections are scheduled for March 17, 2024.
