The Investigative Committee detained a 22-year-old Muscovite who burned her Russian passport on New Year's Eve. A criminal case was opened against her for desecration of the Russian coat of arms (329 Criminal Code).
As Baza writes, we are talking about blogger Evgenia Hoffman. The burning of a passport occurred near a nightclub in Bryansk.
The video of the burning of the document was distributed by Z-channels — this gesture was seen as support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The girl herself stated that she did not criticize the war, but explained her actions by the “ugly photo” on her identity card and the fact that it was invalid.
The press release of the Investigative Committee says that such a gesture is “a gross insult and mockery of the civil and patriotic feelings of citizens of the Russian Federation.”
Also in The Investigative Committee emphasized that operational support in the case is carried out not only by the police, but also by the FSB.
In the near future, Hoffman will be chosen as a preventive measure; The Investigative Committee did not specify what measure was being discussed.
