The Sovetsky District Court of Bryansk placed blogger Evgenia Hoffman, who burned her Russian passport on New Year's Eve, under house arrest. This was reported by the joint press service of the city courts.
According to the press release, Hoffman is accused of desecration of the Russian coat of arms (Article 329 of the Criminal Code) and intentional infliction of moderate harm to health, committed out of hooligan motives (paragraph “d”) » Part 2 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code).
The criminal case against Hoffman became known on January 2. Then the Investigative Committee reported on the arrest of the blogger in Bryansk, emphasizing that operational support in the case was being carried out by police officers and the FSB.
According to the investigation, the woman, detained early in the morning of January 1, while in a nightclub in Bryansk, burned her passport , thereby committing “an outrage against the State Emblem of the Russian Federation.” “These actions are a gross insult and mockery of the civil and patriotic feelings of citizens of the Russian Federation,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The video of the burning of the document had previously begun to be distributed by Z-channels — in this gesture they saw support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Hoffman herself reported that she burned her passport because of the “ugly photo” and because the document was invalid.
At the same time, Article 112 of the Criminal Code was not mentioned in the Investigative Committee’s press release about Hoffman’s arrest. The Mash telegram channel writes that a case was opened under this article due to the fact that a few days before the burning of her passport, the blogger broke her friend’s nose.
