A fire occurred at a transformer station in Moscow, leaving several dozen houses without electricity

In Moscow, on the night of January 4, a fire occurred at a transformer station on Vysokovoltny Proezd, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the capital's department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The fire was reported at 5:44. The fire was put out for several hours. At 8:52, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that “open burning had been eliminated,” and “work to completely eliminate the fire” was continuing.

Baza wrote that due to the fire, more than 20 houses in Otradnoye, Bibirevo, Northern and Southern Medvedkovo were left without electricity and heating. The Moscow City Administration said that most of the houses were switched to a “backup energy supply scheme,” and about 40 more houses “will be switched over in the next one and a half to two hours.”

Residents began to complain about the appearance of frost in their houses, Baza reported. In Moscow today the temperature dropped to minus 27.7 degrees, this is the coldest night of this winter.
