
MINSK, January 4 The government of Belarus decided to close in Rostov-on-Don no later than July 1, 2024, a branch of the embassy of the republic and open a consulate general, according to a resolution of the country’s Council of Ministers published on the national legal Internet portal.
“Open the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Rostov-on-Don (Russian Federation) no later than July 1, 2024. Close the branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Rostov-on-Don no later than July 1, 2024,” — the resolution says.
The Ministry of Finance of Belarus has been instructed to finance the costs of opening and maintaining the consulate general in Rostov-on-Don within the limits of the funds provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the republican budget for the opening and maintenance of diplomatic missions and consular offices of the republic abroad.
Earlier, the Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy said that Minsk intends to double the number of branches of the Belarusian Embassy in the Russian Federation and gradually transfer them to the status of consulates general.
