ST. PETERSBURG, January 3 The inclusion of the song by Verka Serduchka (the stage name of the Ukrainian singer Andrei Danilko) in the disco program at the regional House of Culture in the Pskov region caused a wide public outcry; the administration of the Palace of Culture has already apologized for this incident, which occurred “without malicious intent.”
On January 1, a video of a disco in the district House of Culture of the city of Porkhov (Porkhov socio-cultural complex) appeared on the VKontakte social network. As follows from the video, the disco participants are dancing to Verka Serduchka’s song “Ukraine Isn’t Dead Yet.” This caused indignation among some users who considered the composition offensive to the participants in the special military operation.
«Dear residents of Porkhov, the administration of the House of Culture apologizes for the situation with Vera Serduchka’s song at the disco. This composition was played by the DJ without any malicious intent and meaning, it was not accidentally removed from the playlist,” explained the director of the cultural center, Alla Tarasenkova, in a comment to the corresponding post.
According to her, a conversation was held with the DJ, and he will be punished. Tarasenkova also recalled that the staff of the Porkhov House of Culture was one of the first to begin providing assistance to the mobilized residents of the region.
«Throughout the entire operation, we always help and worry about our guys. Once again we apologize for the current situation among all Porkhovichi and our defenders of the fatherland,» concluded the director of the House of Culture.
As follows from user comments, after this incident, discos, which take place on Saturdays from 22.00 to 2.00 Moscow time, have been suspended. There is no official confirmation of this information yet.
In the poster of the House of Culture in Porkhov, where before the New Year gifts were presented from district and regional authorities to the families of the special operation participants, there is no information about changes in the program.
