One of the suicide bombers in Iran turned out to be a citizen of Tajikistan
One of the suicide bombers who carried out explosions on Wednesday in the Iranian city of Kerman had the citizenship of Tajikistan, RIA Novosti reports citing the Iranian Ministry of Information (Intelligence). .
The terrorist attack occurred during funeral processions, when people gathered to honor the memory of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) General Qassem Soleimani. A total of 89 people, including 12 children, became victims of the terrorist attack.
Earlier it became known that there were two suicide bombers. The nationality and identity of the second suicide bomber are currently unknown.
It was also reported that a number of people related to the terrorist attack had been detained.
A day of mourning was declared in Iran; the country's President Ebrahim Raisi rescheduled his visit to Turkey. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised a “cruel response” to the perpetrators and organizers of the explosions.
