The Oktyabrsky District Court of Kirov sentenced Vladimir Vladimirov to two years in a general regime colony, finding him guilty of “discrediting” the army, which led to dangerous consequences (Part 2 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). The verdict was handed down on December 7, the OVD-Info project drew attention to it.
As stated in the court ruling, on August 16, 2023, a tent was erected near house 2a on Lepse Street, where you can sign up for contract service. The next evening, Vladimirov set the tent on fire using a lighter. A fragment measuring 2×2 meters burned out. The security forces estimated the damage at 23 thousand rubles.
He filmed the burning tent and sent the videos to three people. One of the recipients is Vladimirov’s ex-wife. The resolution notes that on Viber, Vladimirov also wrote to his ex-wife about his readiness to “join the Ukrainian Armed Forces to destroy Russian military personnel,” and also spoke negatively about Vladimir Putin.
The remaining two recipients are not named in the verdict; the court only emphasizes that in correspondence with one of the users, Vladimirov accompanied the video with the comment “Weak, … (obscene)?”
Vladimirov himself partially admitted his guilt. But he insisted that he was drunk that day and decided to relieve himself at the tent. He was afraid that he would be held accountable for this, so he pulled a T-shirt over his head.
Then, the convict said, he decided to light a cigarette and, out of curiosity, looked at the window of the tent. According to Vladimirov, using the light from a lighter, he tried to see what was inside and accidentally set the tent on fire. The man claims that he made the video in order to “confess to the police in the morning.”
Footage of the tent being set on fire on August 18 was published by the Baza telegram channel. He later announced the arrest of 45-year-old Vladimirov. The man was first placed under administrative arrest under the article of petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code), and then accused of “discrediting” the army. As stated in the verdict, during his arrest Vladimirov said: “When Putin’s regime changes, all of you cops will hang from poles.”
