ANKARA, January 7 An earthquake of magnitude 3.9 was recorded in Kahramanmaraş in southeastern Turkey, the disaster management authority (AFAD) said.
According to the department's message on the social network X, tremors were registered in the Elbistan region at 18:58 local time (coinciding with Moscow time).
The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of 6.99 kilometers.
Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 with an interval of nine hours in the province of Kahramanmaraş. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in 11 provinces of the country and neighboring countries, including Syria. According to the latest data, more than 55 thousand people have died in Turkey.
