MEXICO CITY, January 8 Gang leaders internationally wanted » Los Curva» were detained in the Colombian department of Valle del Cauca; according to the investigation, they supplied more than five tons of cocaine to the US and EU markets every month, the Colombian Ministry of Defense reported.

In a coordinated operation by police, navy, Colombian prosecutors and Ecuadorian police, two brothers nicknamed «Curva» and «Chanchi», who led the criminal organization «Los Curva», were captured in municipalities of Candelaria and Buenaventura in the department of Valle del Cauca,” says a blog post by the ministry on the social network accused of being internationally wanted by Interpol. According to investigators, the detainees, with the help of Mexican drug cartels, used boats and fishing vessels to send cocaine to the United States and Europe from the Pacific coast of Colombia and from the province of Esmeraldas in Ecuador. The supply volumes exceeded five tons of drugs per month.
More than 90% of the world's coca plantations are concentrated in the so-called “Andean drug triangle,” which includes Colombia, Peru and Bolivia. Coca grows in small quantities on plantations in Panama, Ecuador, southwestern Venezuela and northeastern Brazil. Hundreds of tons of cocaine are shipped annually from South America to the United States, the main and most solvent drug market on the continent, as well as to European ports.
