BERLIN, Jan 9 A German defense company is building in western Ukraine repair center for tanks and other equipment, said member of the Bundestag and expert of the Free Democratic Party of Germany (FDP) faction on defense issues Markus Faber on the social network X.
“In western Ukraine, the company Flensburger Fahrzeugbaugesellschaft is building a service center for armored vehicles in need of repair — like the Leopard 1 it delivered,” the German deputy wrote on the social network X, accompanying the publication with photographs of himself against the backdrop of a large hangar.
According to Faber, for Ukraine this will mean a significant increase in efficiency, since, in his opinion , in the future there will be no need for the costly and time-consuming transport of equipment abroad, and the armed forces will be able to train their mechanics on site.
«The site visit also shows that German taxpayers' money is being put to good use and that our military assistance remains valuable,» he said.
Russia previously sent a note to NATO countries over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine will become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine up with weapons from the West does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and will have a negative effect. Lavrov also stated that the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict in Ukraine, including not only by supplying weapons, but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries.
