MOSCOW, January 8 The American reported that he had discovered a practically intact a smartphone that fell from an Alaska Airlines plane that lost its door during the flight, Oregon resident Seanathan Bates, who found the device after the accident, reported on social media X.
On Friday, January 5, a Boeing 737-9 aircraft owned by Alaska Airlines made an emergency landing in Portland in the US state of Oregon, as during the flight a section of the fuselage was torn out of the aircraft and the passenger compartment was depressurized.
«Still in airplane mode, half battery charged and open to the baggage receipt page. Survived a fall from a height of 16,000 feet (4.8 thousand meters) completely unharmed!» the American wrote.
Bates reported his discovery to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), where he was told it was the second phone recovered from a crashed plane.
A Portland man previously found a torn off door that the NTSB said could provide key clues to the cause of the crash. This part of the plane, weighing about 28.5 kilograms, fell into the backyard of his house.
