MOSCOW, January 8Expectations for the Russian economy were mostly negative, but all the gloomy forecasts did not come true due to the fact that a market economy has formed in Russia, said Boris Titov, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of Entrepreneurs.
«All the expectations of the last year were mostly negative. It seemed that day by day it would only get worse and worse. But these gloomy forecasts did not come true. Today we maintain a stable situation in the economy. Business opportunities after the sanctions have remained, and this “I think that’s the main thing,” he said.
Recently, the Ombudsman added, “Russia has learned to produce a lot of things itself, our economy has quickly rebuilt itself, replacing imports in a number of important areas.”
This happened, according to Titov, due to the fact that the Russian economy has long become a market economy. “If we were not a market economy, we would not have adapted so quickly to the difficult geopolitical situation in which we found ourselves, that’s for sure,” the agency’s interlocutor emphasized.
At the same time, he added that “however, much remains to be done; there are enough positions in which the country is still seriously behind.”
