BEIJING, Jan 9 China successfully launched the Einstein probe into orbit to observe little-studied space phenomena , the China Space Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) said in a statement.
“»At 15.03 (10.03 Moscow time — ed.) on January 9, the Long March-2C launch vehicle launched from the Xichang Cosmodrome, after which the Einstein probe was successfully launched into a given orbit,» the message says.
The satellite was sent to observe mysterious transient phenomena in the universe, comparable to the flickering of fireworks, with the aim of revealing little-known aspects of the cosmos, Xinhua reported.
As explained by CASC, the Einstein probe is China's first large-field X-ray astronomical satellite. The probe will be used to record phenomena predicted by theoretical physicist Albert Einstein, such as black holes and gravitational waves.
