ST. PETERSBURG, January 9. The Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg has come out of idle mode as of today, the press service reported.
“We have come out of idle mode. We are training staff and servicing equipment,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

The assembly lines of the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC plant stopped in March 2022. As Hyundai Motor stated, the reason was difficulties with the supply of components due to international sanctions. The last time the shutdown was extended until December 31, 2023.

In December, it was reported that the board of directors of Hyundai Motor approved a plan to sell the plant to Art-Finance. According to the Yonhap agency, it will be sold for a symbolic ten thousand rubles with the possibility of repurchase within two years. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, Art-Finance is 99.9 percent controlled by the former general director of the Avilon dealer, Andrey Pavlovich. Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov then said that a subcommittee of the government commission for control of foreign investment in Russia approved the deal, and the potential owner of the plant, together with industrial partners, is already exploring the possibility of an early restart of car production at this site.
Plant Hyundai Motor Company in St. Petersburg began operations in September 2010. The site produced Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, Kia Rio X-Line models and the Hyundai Creta crossover with an annual capacity of more than 200 thousand units.
