The presidential election campaign has begun in Slovakia

BRATISLAVA, January 9 The presidential election campaign started in Slovakia, it will end on March 21, two days before the elections, and the nomination of candidates will end on January 30, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
“The election campaign began on January 9, the deadline for submitting candidates expires on January 30,” the Slovak Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

The election campaign will end 48 hours before the day of the presidential elections in Slovakia, the first round of which is scheduled for March 23, if a second round is required on April 6, it will also end 48 hours before this date.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that each candidate must gain the support of at least 15 members of parliament or at least 15 thousand citizens of Slovakia. Proposed candidates will be checked for compliance with the necessary conditions within two weeks.
Each presidential candidate can spend up to 500 thousand euros on his election campaign.
The current head of Slovakia, Zuzana Caputova, announced in June 2023 that she would not participate in the next presidential elections. The president in Slovakia is elected for five years, the term of office of the country's first female president expires in 2024.

According to the latest sociological studies, the head of the republic's parliament, Peter Pellegrini, has the greatest chance of winning the presidential elections in Slovakia. He plans to formally announce his candidacy next week.

Former Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korczok previously reported that he had already managed to collect the required number of signatures in his support. According to recent polls, Korcok may take second place in the upcoming elections.
Another former head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry, Jan Kubis, also previously announced presidential ambitions; he has already collected 15 thousand signatures of citizens of the republic necessary to nominate him.
The former chairman of the Supreme Court of Slovakia, ex-head of the Ministry of Justice Stefan Garabin is also going to fight for the presidency; he was one of the candidates in the presidential elections in Slovakia in 2019 and took third place in the first round.
